On Monday evening, Greengaged held its first co-ed Swishing night. Swishing is a sociable, friendly (usually) form of clothes swapping, with very specific rules. Organised by sustainable marketing communications company Futerra, everyone was asked to bring one piece of clean good clothing which could be swapped for someone else’s top, dress, shoes or tee-shirt.

A crowd of 40 happy swishers chatted, drank wine and examined the rails of clothes which included items by Monsoon, Jacob, Phase 8 as well as some great tee-shirts. Unfortunately for the men, there wasn’t a whole lot of choice though.
At the same time a 'talkaoke' was going on. Led by Talkaokeist Saul Albert, there was a heated discussion of fear and loathing in Primark, sustainable clothing, and a strong defence of why some people love to shop.
Lucy Shea of Futerra explained the rules of the game: first whistle - shoppers could take one item, second whistle, another, and after the third it was a free-for-all. There were no fist-fights over the pink wool jacket and everyone ended the evening pleased with their new acquisition, and its price!
